Bio

I am a poet, spoken word artist and educator from the East End of Glasgow, the current Sonnet Youth Slam Champion and runner up of the BBC Edinburgh Fringe Slam 2019. In 2021 I was awarded Scots Writer O The Year at the Scots Language Awards and the John Byrne Award Quarterly Prize.

My writing is rooted in working class story telling and her Glasgow roots.  My critically acclaimed chapbook Confessionals released through Speculative Books in 2017.  The piece was later produced and directed by Sonnet Youth as a Spoken Word theatre piece featuring music by Abi Normal. My 2020 book Exiles was later produced as a feature film (Fair Play), directed by Kevin P Gilday and David Hayman Jr, featuring music by Calum Baird.

I'm a regular featured performer at some of the UK's top arts festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, BBC 6 Festival, Feile an Phobail, the Edinburgh Book Festival, Electric Fields, Belladrum Tartan Heart and the James Connolly Festival (Dublin).

In 2018 I participated in Neu!  Reekie!'s residency at Curfew Tower, County Antrim, and was published as part of their anthology, 'After Curfew.'  My poetry has also  been published by the Joe Strummer Foundation, Nutmeg and Toubadour.
